Vinted Members Express Frustration About Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
